Manga ini bercerita tentang Mecha (istilah yang lebih modern untuk robot) yang disebut sebagai B'T. Sebuah B't (dibaca "beat") adalah sejenis mechanoid dengan kecerdasan buatan yang didesain untuk bertarung —B pada B't adalah singkatan dari Blood (darah), Brain (otak), dan Bravery (keberanian). Ditambah satu lagi yaitu Battler (petarung). Mereka dibuat dalam berbagai macam bentuk dan tingkat kekuatan, yang biasanya diilhami dari bentuk makhluk-makhluk legenda. Sumber tenaga B't berasal dari sebuah perangkat bernama BreakHeart, yang harus diisi oleh darah manusia. B't dan orang yang mendonorkan darahnya ke dalam BreakHeart akan terikat satu sama lain, seumur hidupnya. Namun terjadi keanehan ketika B'T ini tidak lagi hanya dikendalikan oleh manusia semata, tetapi juga oleh kehendaknya sendiri.
Tokoh utama cerita ini adalah Teppei ("Tepp") Takamiya, seorang petani yang berasal dari Kepulauan Kamui, di bagian Utara Jepang. Beberapa tahun sebelumnya, Tepp berpisah dengan kakaknya, Kotaru Takamiya, yang pergi untuk mempelajari ilmu robot di Jerman dan menjadi salah satu ilmuwan paling brilian di dunia.
Lima tahun kemudian, kedua kakak beradik ini bertemu kembali dalam sebuah konvensi robot di kota Mechatopia, Cina, di mana Kotaru mengumumkan tentang terobosan barunya dalam hal kecerdasan buatan (artificial intelligence). Konvensi itu terganggu dengan kehadiran pasukan Machine Empire yang menculik Kotaru dan membawanya ke sebuah tempat bernama "The Area", sebuah tempat tersembunyi di Gurun Gobi.
Dengan bantuan senjata miliknya yang bernama Messiah Fist, Teppei mengejar para penculik. Dalam perjalanannya, ia diserang oleh Metalface, salah satu tentara kekaisaran. Teppei kalah, ia terluka dan dibuang ke tempat pembuangan sampah. Di tempat penampungan itu, darahnya mengalir membasahi BreakHeart X —sebuah B't yang pernah diakui sebagai B't terkuat di kekaisaran— yang kemudian membangkitkannya. X yang bangkit kembali berhasil menyelamatkan Teppei dengan membawanya terbang dari tempat itu.
Sementar itu, di dalam Arena, Kotaru menemukan bahwa ia "dipanggil" oleh Mayor Aramis, seorang pasukan Empire, untuk mencari cara untuk menghentikan Raffaello (ラファエロ), sebuah B't berbahaya yang berkembang tanpa terkontrol.
Seiring dengan perkembangan cerita, X dan Teppei menjalin persahabatan yang erat meskipun pada awalnya keduanya sulit menyatu, karena Teppei bukanlah donor asli bagi X.

During middle school, Hiro Kunimi (pitcher), Hideo Tachibana (third baseman and 4th batter), and Atsushi Noda (catcher) were teammates on the baseball team. Thanks to their exploits, their school achieved an unbeaten record on their way to consecutive national championships.
However, after an injury, a doctor told Hiro that if he continued pitching, his elbow would shatter in three months. Likewise, Noda was diagnosed with a career-ending waist injury by the same doctor, ending their dreams of Kōshien. Hiro chose to go to Senkawa High School, which lacked a baseball team. On the other hand, Hideo went to Meiwa Daiichi High School, one of the top-ranked high schools in the country, along with Hikari Amamiya, his girlfriend (and Hiro's childhood friend).
Hiro decided to join the soccer team, and Noda joined the swim team. After it was revealed that the doctor who "diagnosed" Hiro (and Noda) was a quack, Hiro and Noda return to playing baseball. Their first hurdle was to persuade their headmaster, who hated baseball. Haruka Koga, the manager of the baseball fans club, assisted them in their endeavors.
Through a family friend, Haruka managed to persuade the headmaster to allow the baseball club to be created if they managed to beat another team. The team chosen was surprisingly Meiwa Daiichi, Hideo's team. Although Senkawa ultimately lost the game(as one of the members of Meiwa Daiichi was the umpire and lied to make Meiwa Daiichi win), the headmaster allowed the club to be formed—also letting his son Yanagi return to baseball.
The headmaster also employed Fujio Koga, Haruka's brother, as the team's coach. Their first game as an official team was against Eikyo High School in a friendly match. Eikyo, a team with the famed pitcher Hirota, beat Senkawa easily.
In the second year, the new baseball club gains three notable members: Sagawa, Shima, and Ohtake. Sagawa was an old friend of Hideo's, while the latter two were relatives of Hirota. Although initially planted by Hirota in order to destroy Senkawa from within, they soon grow used to the friendly atmosphere of Senkawa. In the final game before the Koshien, Senkawa managed to defeat Eikyo.
Senkawa were set to meet up with Meiwa Daiichi after two opponents in the Koshien tournament. It would have been a fight between rivals Hiro and Hideo, except that Senkawa lost in the second round to Iba Shogyo. The loss was due to Hiro not being willing to injure the opposing pitcher and the opposing pitcher taking advantage of that injure while Hiro is pitching. Meiwa Daiichi went on to win the Summer Tournament. While this happens Hideo, Hiro and Hikari love triangle becomes evident and the two baseball players start growing apart and even though Hiro has feelings for Haruka he starts making his decisions to win Hikari's heart.
In the third year, Senkawa wins the Spring Tournament and then for Summer it matches up against Meiwa Daiichi in the semi finals in a game which will define one of the finalists but also if either Hiro or Hideo wins Hikari's heart. At the last inning with Senkawa leading the score, Hideo doubts Hiro and himself and misses a fastball losing the game but keeping Hikari. Senkawa goes on to play the finals and the manga ends.

The protagonist, Hiro initially escaped to Senkawa in order to forget baseball. After his elbow was properly diagnosed, he strove to strengthen the newly created Senkawa baseball team as its star pitcher. Although he's blessed with a huge amount of talent since childhood, he's also hard-working and passionate about the sport. This combination results in one of the most monstruous pitchers ever created in the world of fiction. He's a fearsome batter(the third batter of Senkawa's line-up for most of the series) and a first-class fielder. Kunimi also displays inhuman amounts of stamina and focus(during his first Koshien game in the manga, Hideo states that "He could pitch 18 innings and even then get a no-hitter"). Although he throws a great fastball(152km/h by the end of the series, possibly greater - it hit 157km/h in the drama), he has less control over his forkballs. However, since his failed forkballs turn out to be fastballs, it leads to a degree of unpredictability in his pitches. He has also developed a high-speed slider that may only be caught by a professional level catcher.Hiro was responsible for introducing Hikari to Hideo. He has belated romantic feelings for his childhood friend, Hikari Amamiya, and starts to also develop feelings for Senkawa's manager, Koga Haruka.

Hiro's best friend and greatest rival in baseball, they were in the same baseball team in middle school. Hideo has been dating Hikari since middle school, and aims to enter the professional baseball leagues after he graduates from high school. Like Hiro, he's a natural-born genius when it comes to baseball, but that doesn't stop him from working very hard to become even better. A fantastic batter, he becomes the clean-up hitter for Meiwa Daiichi High as a first-year, quickly becoming a national star after that. There's a scene in the manga where Meiwa's coach states that "Letting Hideo face off against high-school pitchers with an aluminium bat in his hands is almost cheating". That only goes to show how skilled Hideo is as a batter.

Hikari Amamiya (雨宮ひかり, Amamiya Hikari?)

Hiro's childhood friend and Hideo's girlfriend, Hikari dreams of becoming a journalist. Although she seems happy with Hideo, she seems to have feelings for Hiro as well.

Daughter to the businessman whom Hiro's father works for, she was a high school baseball enthusiast. A hardworking baseball club manager, she played an instrumental role in creating and supporting Senkawa's baseball club. As time goes along, her feelings for Hiro grow more apparent, but Hiro chooses not to respond. She dreams of being an air flight stewardess as well as a professional baseballer's wife.

The catcher that makes up Senkawa's battery, Noda is the third person in the friendship of Hideo and Hiro. Fat and lazy, Hiro still acknowledges that Noda is a good catcher: able to make decisions about fielding and understanding the general condition of the team. Likes to joke around a lot and make bad puns, but it's actually a wise and clever person, becoming the captain of Senkawa's baseball team as a sophomore. Noda is Senkawa's clean-up hitter, and although his performance is inconsistent, he's a great batter with a good balance of strength and timing.
Ryūtaro Kine (木根竜太朗, Kine Ryūtarō?)

Used to play for the Hakusan Angels in primary school until Hideo replaced him. He turned to soccer instead, his athletic ability helping him. He tries to persuade Haruka to give up on her baseball ambitions, but later joins the baseball team in order to get closer with Haruka. Kine acts as leadoff batter and center fielder, and was also pitcher when he was in the Hakusan Angels. As a homage to Kakefu, he does left-handed baseball swings. As Haruka and Hiro's relationship gets better, he plots with Miho in order to split them up. Often used as comic relief by Adachi, he's also portrayed as a good player with a great baseball sense(and a lot of luck). Likes to brag, but also works pretty hard when motivated. Kine is also the best center fielder shown in the series.
Miho Osanai
One of the managers for Meiwa Daiichi, she joined in order to get closer to Hideo. However, she fails in this due to Hideo's loyalty to Hikari. She attempts to break them up, but continually fails. She later plots with Kine in order to break up Hideo and Hikari. Their plotting results in both Miho and Kine getting closer.
Miho does not appear in the anime.

Senkawa
Coached by Fujio Koga, Haruka's brother, the Senkawa team was newly created. However, the presence of Hiro, Atsushi, Yanagi and Kine soon proved that Senkawa was a threat to be considered. In Hiro's second year of high school, 3 notable players joined Senkawa: the fast Osamu, the boxer Ootake, and the shortstop Sagawa Shuuji, a friend of Hideo. In Hiro's third and last highschool year, several well acknowledged first-year players joined Senkawa, but none were focused on explicitly.
Meiwa Daiichi
Hideo and Hikari's school, Hideo is the star player. Miho is one of the managers of the team, but Hikari sat as manager during the team's Koshien games although she was just a temporary manager. The coach is understanding, and gets along well with Hideo.
Eikyo
Eikyo's star pitcher, Hirota, is considered one of the best pitchers in the Koshien with his 142 km/h left-handed fastballs. With the backing of the calculative Coach Shiroyama, they were considered serious contenders for the Koshien. Hirota aimed to get to the pros. However, Shiroyama's calculative strategy kept their best catcher, Oogura on the bench.
Iba Shogyo
The star pitcher, Kohei Tsukigata, and the star hitter, Jin Shimizu, are both fans of Hiro and Hideo respectively. Tsukigata's pitches, and his curveball in particular, are extremely well controlled, and he had the potential to be considered a genius if he had started training early. They defeated Senkawa in the Koshien tournament as Hiro was willing to sacrifice his own leg in order to not hurt Tsukigata's hand.

Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love (サクラ大戦V 〜さらば愛しき人よ〜, Sakura Taisen Faibu ~Saraba, Itoshiki Hito yo~?, Sakura Wars V ~Farewell, My Love~) is a tactical role-playing game with dating sim elements.[7] It was developed and published by Sega, and licensed by Red Entertainment, as the fifth title in the Sakura Wars series for PlayStation 2 and Wii. It was released on PlayStation 2 in Japan on July 5, 2005, and it was released on PlayStation 2 and Wii in North America on March 30, 2010 and on the Wii in PAL territories on April 2, 2010. First revealed at the Tokyo Game Show convention in 2002, Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love is a title of the Sakura Taisen World Project compilation.
Set in an alternate universe New York City during the late 1920s, the game's storyline focuses on a naval ensign, Shinjiro Taiga, as he is summoned from Japan to New York to lead a fighting troupe disguised as a musical troupe to defeat an evil warlord and his subordinates from conquering America as its kingdom. The gameplay includes elements from previous games in the series, such as the LIPS system and combat systems.

Like previous Sakura Wars installments, the game consists of two modes of gameplay: Adventure Mode and Battle Mode. In Adventure Mode, Shinjiro Taiga, the main protagonist, is controlled from a third-person perspective and can move around New York. However, characters can also accompany him while traveling around New York. Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love features the series' traditional Live & Interactive Picture System, or LIPS. Under this system, whenever an event occurs in the game the player must choose Shinjiro's next action within a limited amount of time. The four types of the LIPS system consist of Normal LIPS, which is displayed when the player must make a decision; Analog LIPS, which the player can raise the action gauge up or down depending on the situation; Double LIPS, which gives the player a longer amount of time to make decisions; and Stick LIPS, where the player can manipulate the Analog Stick to raise a gauge depending on the situation. Depending on the player's interactions with the Star Division, trust points will increase or decrease and can also affect their skills in combat. Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love also introduces a device known as the Cameratron, which the player can use as a camera to take photos and also functions as a time clock and radio.
The battle mode in Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love uses the Active and Real-time Machine System, or ARMS, which was first featured in Sakura Wars 3. A maximum of six characters may be used in battle. Under the ARMS system, the player controls each member's unit, known as a Star, can move using the action bar and use the action provided, such as Normal, Supermove, Healing and Joint as well as the Strategem, such as Shin, Gi and Tai.[10] The Star can transform into Ground Form or Flight Form depending on the situation and the player can change areas in some battles[10] In addition to standard, battle techniques, each character has a special ability. Players may save their game during eyecatches, where they can also track the party's status.

The first Sakura Wars game to reach North America, Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love takes the franchise to America with the franchise's first story set in America, following a new hero who joins the US version of the Hanagumi. Demons have appeared in New York, and its up to Shinjirou, Gemini Sunrise and a new cast of characters to take them out. The cast serves as performers during the day and warriors when called upon, continuing series tradition.
Sakura Wars is a strategy RPG that features a unique sim-based story system. Character interaction plays a major role in a storyline that never follows a set course, and your responses to the various characters in the game can ultimately change the story content and even the final outcome. The battle system is divided into two main parts; ground combat and air combat. Ground combat takes place using two-legged mechanized suits, which transform into jet fighters to take the fight to the sky. Every mech unit in the game can transform from battle mech mode to jet fighter mode during combat.[1]

Shinjiro Taiga
Shinjiro is a young naval officer from Japan with a rank of Lieutenant. He is selected to become the new captain of the New York Combat Revue's Star Division.
Gemini Sunrise
Gemini is a very cheerful cowgirl who tends to be a bit clumsy. Her master's last words bring her from Texas to New York with her fellow horse, Larry. She is very interested in Japanese culture and tends to daydream often.
Sagiitta Weinberg (Cheiron Archer in the English language version)
Sagiitta, or Cheiron, is a strong-willed African-American lawyer who practices out of Harlem. She is very intelligent and is recognized for her exceptional perseverance, toughness, independence and confidence. She serves as a sub-antagonist in Episode 2 as she works with Steam Forntier to demolish her hometown of Harlem. After facing her in a mock trial, Shinjiro helps remind her why she studied law in the first place and becomes closer with him.
Rikaritta Aries (Rosarita Aries in the English language version)
Rikaritta, or Rosita, is a Mexican markswoman and bounty hunter despite being only 11 years old. She is very energetic with an abundant appetite and obsession with food.
Diana Caprice
Diana is a local birdwatcher who is as compassionate as a goddess. She is a doctor in training who has lost her will to live until Shinjiro gives her the hope she needed to keep going, despite everything she has been through.
Subaru Kujo
Subaru's true gender and age are completely unknown, though the character tends to use pronouns such as "herself" when speaking in the third person. However, Subaru is defintely a noble from a Japanese family and excels at Noh and other traditional Japanese dances.
Supporting characters of Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love include Ratchet Altair, a former captain of the European Star Division and captain of the Star Division until Shinjiro replaces her, she becomes the vice-commander soon after; Michael Sunnyside, the commander of the Star Division; Cherry Cocker (Plum Spaniel in the Japanese language version) and Anri Yoshino of the Rainbow Division, who help the Star Division in battles; Yuichi Kayama of the Moon Division, who owns a Romando shop; and Xingzhi Wong (Gyouchi Oh in the Japanese language version), who is the designer of the STARs and owns a Chinese restaurant.

Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love begins with Shinjiro Taiga departing from Tokyo to New York City. Shortly after arriving there, Shinjiro witnesses a bank robbery being foiled by Gemini Sunrise, a samurai cowgirl. Shinjiro is arrested, but Yuichi Kayama, the leader of the Moon Division, clears him and they enter the Little Lip Theater to meet Shinjiro's captain, Ratchet Altair, and the Star Division's commander, Michael Sunnyside. Taiga and Gemini meet each other outside the theater, and later meets the theater's drink bar hostess, Cherry Cocker, and gift shop seller, Anri Yoshino. Along the way, Taiga meets Subaru Kujo, a Japanese musician while in the garden and Cheiron Archer, a lawyer. Later, just as Taiga finishes watches a musical based on Cleopatra, an emergency occurs and Ratchet orders Taiga to watch over the theater. After Shinjiro is assigned by Sunnyside to be a ticket clipper, he goes to Central Park and meets Diana Caprice, a birdwatcher. Eventually, Shinjiro is accepted as a member of the Star Division when he shows Ratchet the results of his progress. However, Ratchet is injured during a battle on the Statue of Liberty with Ranmaru, a recurring antagonist in the game, forcing her to let Shinjiro take over as the captain. After the player thwarts Ranmaru's invasion, Ratchet becomes the assistant commander.
Later, Cheiron organizes a mock trial involving Shinjiro and Carlos, a member of the biker gang, the Centaurs, to evict the people of Harlem, where the city is being burned by Kokuryu-hime. Eventually, Cheiron is revealed to be a member of the Centaurs, and realizes her feelings for the people of Harlem. After defeating Kokuryu-hime to save Harlem, Shinjiro encounters Rosarita Aries, a bounty hunter from Mexico, and she joins the Star Division. As a perfectionist, she becomes depressed when Shinjiro is injured after an attack but learns that everyone makes mistakes, its how one deals with their mistakes that make the person.
The group formally meets Diana who they learn has a weak body and has lost her will to live. Shinjiro eventually convinces her that even if the circumstances look dire, she can fight her destiny and give her a new path to follow. After losing a duel with Subaru, Shinjiro is forced to perform on stage as a new star called Peppermint. Subaru questins why Shinjiro is able to pull off what he does even though he is flawed. Subaru opens herself up to the group eventually recognizing everyone's importance in her life, including Shinjiro's importance. Soon, after learning about the Five Star Warriors, Shinjiro recruits Gemini to the Star Division due to her ties to the Five Star Warriors. But in discovering that Ranmaru is one of their enemies, Gemini's sister, Geminine, who resides in her body as an alter-ego, goes after him to get revenge on her fallen master. Shinjiro is able to convince Geminine that revenge is not the right way. Afterwards, Geminine decides to rest inside Gemini for a while after using too much of her influence to dominate Gemini's body.
After performing their Christmas show, the Star Division go out to stop Ranmaru's robot from being repaired only for Shinjiro to be severely injured by Oda Nobunaga, a dark spirit who was revived. After acquiring the resolve to fight Nobunaga without sacrificing anyone to the Five-Ring Mandala, the only method to seal Nobunaga, Shinjiro is promoted to Captain of the New York Combat Revue Star Division as they all go off to fight Nobunaga. The Revue uses the Ahab, the Star Division's airship, to successfully infiltrate Azuchi Castle. Inside, the party battles their way through Nobunaga's defenses and their dark clones. However, Shinjiro is inside his dark clone when he arrives near Nobunaga. He manages to escape the dark clone after many pleas from the Star Division and defeats it. Making a final stand against Nobunaga, the Star Division successfully defeats him, but Nobunaga comes out alive and following a brief confrontation with between him and Shinjiro, Nobunaga looks into Shinjiro's feelings before disappearing. Sunnyside, Ratchet, Anri and Cherry watch as Nobunaga's castle disintegrates into cherry blossoms.

Cerita diawali ketika Ippo, seorang murid sekolah menengah sering dijahili oleh berandalan tanpa bisa melawan. Suatu hari, ketika ia diganggu oleh berandalan Ippo ditolong oleh seorang petinju professional bernama Takamura. Dia berhasil membuat para berandalan itu kabur setelah mencopot semua kancing mereka dalam beberapa saat saja. Ippo yang kagum ingin menjadi petinju seperti dirinya.
Esoknya Ippo dibawa ke bawah pohon dan diajari menggunakan jab. Dia harus mengambil sepuluh daun yang jatuh dari pohon dengan cepat. Setelah berhasil, dia lalu pergi ke sasana Kamogawa untuk menjadi petinju juga. Dimulailah karier bertinju Ippo.

Ippo Makunochi
Ippo tadinya bocah lemah yang sering dijahili oleh preman. Dia tidak sadar kekuatan pukulan dirinya sendiri yang sering membantu mengangkut barang-barang ibunya yang nelayan. Dia pernah berpikir untuk berhenti bertinju untuk membantu ibunya bekerja, tapi dia kembali bertinju setelah ada temannya yang bersedia menjadi pegawai di tempatnya.
Ichiro Miyata
Ichiro adalah petinju jenius yang mengandalkan outboxing dan counter. Dia adalah rival abadi dari Ippo setelah kalah darinya di sasana. Dia lalu berkeliling dunia untuk menjadi yang terkuat untuk bisa mengalahkan Ippo di kemudian hari. Dia adalah anak dari seorang petinju yang terbilang hebat di masanya.
Mamoru Takamura
Takamura adalah petinju kuat dari kelas berat yang sudah lama bertinju di sasana Kamogawa. Dia dulunya seorang preman dan diajak bergabung oleh Kamogawa untuk berlatih di sasana miliknya. Dia berhasil merebut juara Jepang dan mengincar juara dunia. Ketika trainning camp di gunung, dia bahkan berhasil mengalahkan seekor beruang.
Genji Kamogawa
Kamogawa dulunya seorang petinju handal. Dia dulu sangat terkenal dan bisa saja melaju ke level dunia kalau saja keadaan saat itu Jepang tidak kalah perang. Dia sangat keras dan tanpa ampun ketika melatih. Nasihat dan latihannya yang diberikan ke Ippo sangat berguna ketika bertarung melawan musuh yang sangat kuat.
Masaru Aoki
Aoki adalah petinju yang mengandalkan infight dan gaya bertarung yang aneh seperti jurus pukulan kataknya yang terkenal dikalangan penggemar tinju. Dia bekerja sambilan di toko ramen langganan Ippo dkk. Dia mempunyai seorang pacar yang tidak begitu rupawan. Cerita diawali ketika Ippo, seorang murid sekolah menengah sering dijahili oleh berandalan tanpa bisa melawan. Suatu hari, ketika ia diganggu oleh berandalan Ippo ditolong oleh seorang petinju professional bernama Takamura. Dia berhasil membuat para berandalan itu kabur setelah mencopot semua kancing mereka dalam beberapa saat saja. Ippo yang kagum ingin menjadi petinju seperti dirinya.
Esoknya Ippo dibawa ke bawah pohon dan diajari menggunakan jab. Dia harus mengambil sepuluh daun yang jatuh dari pohon dengan cepat. Setelah berhasil, dia lalu pergi ke sasana Kamogawa untuk menjadi petinju juga. Dimulailah karier bertinju Ippo.

Ippo Makunochi
Ippo tadinya bocah lemah yang sering dijahili oleh preman. Dia tidak sadar kekuatan pukulan dirinya sendiri yang sering membantu mengangkut barang-barang ibunya yang nelayan. Dia pernah berpikir untuk berhenti bertinju untuk membantu ibunya bekerja, tapi dia kembali bertinju setelah ada temannya yang bersedia menjadi pegawai di tempatnya.
Ichiro Miyata
Ichiro adalah petinju jenius yang mengandalkan outboxing dan counter. Dia adalah rival abadi dari Ippo setelah kalah darinya di sasana. Dia lalu berkeliling dunia untuk menjadi yang terkuat untuk bisa mengalahkan Ippo di kemudian hari. Dia adalah anak dari seorang petinju yang terbilang hebat di masanya.
Mamoru Takamura
Takamura adalah petinju kuat dari kelas berat yang sudah lama bertinju di sasana Kamogawa. Dia dulunya seorang preman dan diajak bergabung oleh Kamogawa untuk berlatih di sasana miliknya. Dia berhasil merebut juara Jepang dan mengincar juara dunia. Ketika trainning camp di gunung, dia bahkan berhasil mengalahkan seekor beruang.
Genji Kamogawa
Kamogawa dulunya seorang petinju handal. Dia dulu sangat terkenal dan bisa saja melaju ke level dunia kalau saja keadaan saat itu Jepang tidak kalah perang. Dia sangat keras dan tanpa ampun ketika melatih. Nasihat dan latihannya yang diberikan ke Ippo sangat berguna ketika bertarung melawan musuh yang sangat kuat.
Masaru Aoki
Aoki adalah petinju yang mengandalkan infight dan gaya bertarung yang aneh seperti jurus pukulan kataknya yang terkenal dikalangan penggemar tinju. Dia bekerja sambilan di toko ramen langganan Ippo dkk. Dia mempunyai seorang pacar yang tidak begitu rupawan. Air Gear (エア・ギア, Ea Gia?) is a shōnen manga written and illustrated by Ito "Oh Great" Ōgure. Air Gear revolves around the life of Itsuki Minami "Ikki", also known as "Baby Face", "Lil (and Little) Crow", and his friends. The story follows their use of Air Trecks, an in-universe invention derived from inline skates. Initial sections of the plot carries out the introduction of characters that eventually join Ikki. As the story progresses, it focuses on their roles as Storm Riders and their quest to be on the top of the Trophaeum Tower. Air Gear won the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.[1]

Plot
Itsuki "Ikki" Minami, is a high school student and a delinquent. Also known as the "Unbeatable Babyface", Ikki is the leader of the youth gang by the name of "East Side Gunz". Upon his return home, after being humiliated by a Storm Rider team called the Skull Saders, Ikki discovers a secret hidden from him by his benefactors, the Noyamano sisters. The sisters belong to a group of Storm Riders who go by the team name of Sleeping Forest. In the anime, learning the sisters' secret angers him and he steals a pair of Air Trecks, abbreviated as "AT". (In the manga, the sisters give a pair of ATs to him and invite him to skate with them.) Ikki eventually settles his grudge with the Skull Saders, but in the process he receives more than the simple satisfaction of revenge. Determined to experience the sensation of "flight" for as long as he can, Ikki is quickly engaged in the mysterious, irresistible world of Air Treks.

Itsuki "Ikki" Minami Voiced by: Kenta Kamakari (Japanese), Chris Patton (English)
The main protagonist of the story, he was given Air Trecks (in the anime, he took them himself) and soon delved into the world of Storm Riders. There is a small crow named Kuu that lives in his hair. In the anime, Kuu was used as a censor. Eventually he creates a team, Kogarasumaru with his two best friends, Kazu and Onigiri. Eventually Buccha, Agito/Akito (Lind is discovered at a later time) join Kogarasumaru. Originally trained to become the Wind King, and eventually the Sky King by Sora, he soon finds himself betrayed by Sora and Nike (Sora's twin brother), who conspire together to steal his Regalia. When they do this, Ikki is stripped of the chance to become the Wind King. Shortly thereafter, Ikki is instead named the Storm King, following the "Hurricane Road." He has the ability to use his Air Treck's to manipulate the wind. His special techniques allows him to create a space where there is no wind called Null Wind, similar to the eye of a hurricane, which may explain his road's name. He is the strongest member of Kogarasumaru.(Battle level of 117 in battle with Sleipnir)
Kazuma "Kazu" Mikura Voiced by: Kenn (Japanese), Clint Bickham (English)
A long-time friend of Ikki, Kazu is a friend who's always by his side. He is a speed-type rider who has recently inherited the title of Flame King following the path of the Flame Road, along with Spitfires old AT's. Due to his speed he got the nickname Stealth. His special techniques allows him to 'manipulate time' (this technique is actually just an illusion, where he moves too fast for the normal human eye, thus making him able to fool the opponent with his speed, one of these tricks being the 'cloning' which is just all his afterimages) and literally marking out a 'Flame Road', where he rides his AT's at such high speeds that the heat caused by the friction of the wheels creates the illusion of flames. These two techniques are, at some level, inherited from Yasuyoshi Sano, the Aeon Clock, and Spitfire, the former Flame King, respectively. This is highly likely, as they both followed the Flame Road.(Battle level of 89 in battle with Sleipnir)
Onigiri Voiced by: Masami Kikuchi (Japanese), Greg Ayres (English)
Also a long-time friend of Ikki, Onigiri is a "perverted pig" as called by most. He has an unorthodox riding style, wearing his Air Trecks on his head and riding it upside-down. He has his own unique Road called the Smell Road, which uses an opponents senses against them. (Battle level of 36 in battle with Sleipnir however in the battle with Nike his Battle level skyrocketed to 326)
Issa Mihotoke "Fats Buccha" Voiced by: Hitoshi Bifu (Japanese), Mark X. Laskowski (English)
Formerly of the Team Yaō (Night Kings),recently named as Mountain King, Buccha was defeated by Ikki and his team was forced to disband. Eventually, he joins Ikki's team as one of the main power riders, making use of his extremely large build and strength. In the manga he is known as the Black Pig for his seemingly overweight appearance. Ironically he isn't truly fat; because all of the blood from his muscles go from his body to his belly due to his constant over eating, explained in episode 17, and when he needs to, he reverts all the blood to his upper muscles, gaining super human strength, and an extremely well built appearance. Being considered one of the two weakest in the group next to Onigiri, with the help of the cyber Spitfire, Buccha set out down a road of enlightenment. This road he discovers he is also able to transfer his blood to his lower muscles giving him great speed to rival Orca (Genesis gravity child after the fang regalia).(Battle level of 68 in battle with Sleipnir)
Akito/Agito/Lind Wanijima Voiced by: Kokoro Kikuchi (Japanese), Blake Shepard (English)
He is the Fang King (a.k.a the Shark) with a split-personality. Akito is the "light" side while Agito is the "dark" side. They used to work for the police team of "WIND" led by their "brother" Kaito, until inspired by Ikki to leave and join Kogarasumaru after being rescued. Their split-personality changes depending on the side their eye patch is worn. Akito wears his patch on his right eye, Agito on his left. Later, a new personality named Lind emerged. Lind is like a "big brother" personality akin to Akito/Agito's older brother, Kaito Wanijima. He claims he is the original personality of the body. Akito/Agito/Lind are the second strongest members of Kogarasumaru. Recent Chapters have revealed the Lind persona to be the Original Brain Charger known as Gazelle. The Kaito's Past arc revealed that Gazelle was female as well as the original Thorn Queen, who had a "special" relationship with Kaito. After Kaito and Gazelle's battle with the Takeuchi twins resulted in Gazelle's death, Rinta Minami was able to recover her body and revive her and Kaito's child, who happens to be Akito/Agito/Lind as revealed in Chapter 300. Further details to how the Akito/Agito personas came to be have yet to be revealed.(Battle level of 122 in battle with Sleipnir)

Air Gear (エア・ギア, Ea Gia?) is a shōnen manga written and illustrated by Ito "Oh Great" Ōgure. Air Gear revolves around the life of Itsuki Minami "Ikki", also known as "Baby Face", "Lil (and Little) Crow", and his friends. The story follows their use of Air Trecks, an in-universe invention derived from inline skates. Initial sections of the plot carries out the introduction of characters that eventually join Ikki. As the story progresses, it focuses on their roles as Storm Riders and their quest to be on the top of the Trophaeum Tower. Air Gear won the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.[1]

Plot
Itsuki "Ikki" Minami, is a high school student and a delinquent. Also known as the "Unbeatable Babyface", Ikki is the leader of the youth gang by the name of "East Side Gunz". Upon his return home, after being humiliated by a Storm Rider team called the Skull Saders, Ikki discovers a secret hidden from him by his benefactors, the Noyamano sisters. The sisters belong to a group of Storm Riders who go by the team name of Sleeping Forest. In the anime, learning the sisters' secret angers him and he steals a pair of Air Trecks, abbreviated as "AT". (In the manga, the sisters give a pair of ATs to him and invite him to skate with them.) Ikki eventually settles his grudge with the Skull Saders, but in the process he receives more than the simple satisfaction of revenge. Determined to experience the sensation of "flight" for as long as he can, Ikki is quickly engaged in the mysterious, irresistible world of Air Treks.

Itsuki "Ikki" Minami Voiced by: Kenta Kamakari (Japanese), Chris Patton (English)
The main protagonist of the story, he was given Air Trecks (in the anime, he took them himself) and soon delved into the world of Storm Riders. There is a small crow named Kuu that lives in his hair. In the anime, Kuu was used as a censor. Eventually he creates a team, Kogarasumaru with his two best friends, Kazu and Onigiri. Eventually Buccha, Agito/Akito (Lind is discovered at a later time) join Kogarasumaru. Originally trained to become the Wind King, and eventually the Sky King by Sora, he soon finds himself betrayed by Sora and Nike (Sora's twin brother), who conspire together to steal his Regalia. When they do this, Ikki is stripped of the chance to become the Wind King. Shortly thereafter, Ikki is instead named the Storm King, following the "Hurricane Road." He has the ability to use his Air Treck's to manipulate the wind. His special techniques allows him to create a space where there is no wind called Null Wind, similar to the eye of a hurricane, which may explain his road's name. He is the strongest member of Kogarasumaru.(Battle level of 117 in battle with Sleipnir)
Kazuma "Kazu" Mikura Voiced by: Kenn (Japanese), Clint Bickham (English)
A long-time friend of Ikki, Kazu is a friend who's always by his side. He is a speed-type rider who has recently inherited the title of Flame King following the path of the Flame Road, along with Spitfires old AT's. Due to his speed he got the nickname Stealth. His special techniques allows him to 'manipulate time' (this technique is actually just an illusion, where he moves too fast for the normal human eye, thus making him able to fool the opponent with his speed, one of these tricks being the 'cloning' which is just all his afterimages) and literally marking out a 'Flame Road', where he rides his AT's at such high speeds that the heat caused by the friction of the wheels creates the illusion of flames. These two techniques are, at some level, inherited from Yasuyoshi Sano, the Aeon Clock, and Spitfire, the former Flame King, respectively. This is highly likely, as they both followed the Flame Road.(Battle level of 89 in battle with Sleipnir)
Onigiri Voiced by: Masami Kikuchi (Japanese), Greg Ayres (English)
Also a long-time friend of Ikki, Onigiri is a "perverted pig" as called by most. He has an unorthodox riding style, wearing his Air Trecks on his head and riding it upside-down. He has his own unique Road called the Smell Road, which uses an opponents senses against them. (Battle level of 36 in battle with Sleipnir however in the battle with Nike his Battle level skyrocketed to 326)
Issa Mihotoke "Fats Buccha" Voiced by: Hitoshi Bifu (Japanese), Mark X. Laskowski (English)
Formerly of the Team Yaō (Night Kings),recently named as Mountain King, Buccha was defeated by Ikki and his team was forced to disband. Eventually, he joins Ikki's team as one of the main power riders, making use of his extremely large build and strength. In the manga he is known as the Black Pig for his seemingly overweight appearance. Ironically he isn't truly fat; because all of the blood from his muscles go from his body to his belly due to his constant over eating, explained in episode 17, and when he needs to, he reverts all the blood to his upper muscles, gaining super human strength, and an extremely well built appearance. Being considered one of the two weakest in the group next to Onigiri, with the help of the cyber Spitfire, Buccha set out down a road of enlightenment. This road he discovers he is also able to transfer his blood to his lower muscles giving him great speed to rival Orca (Genesis gravity child after the fang regalia).(Battle level of 68 in battle with Sleipnir)
Akito/Agito/Lind Wanijima Voiced by: Kokoro Kikuchi (Japanese), Blake Shepard (English)
He is the Fang King (a.k.a the Shark) with a split-personality. Akito is the "light" side while Agito is the "dark" side. They used to work for the police team of "WIND" led by their "brother" Kaito, until inspired by Ikki to leave and join Kogarasumaru after being rescued. Their split-personality changes depending on the side their eye patch is worn. Akito wears his patch on his right eye, Agito on his left. Later, a new personality named Lind emerged. Lind is like a "big brother" personality akin to Akito/Agito's older brother, Kaito Wanijima. He claims he is the original personality of the body. Akito/Agito/Lind are the second strongest members of Kogarasumaru. Recent Chapters have revealed the Lind persona to be the Original Brain Charger known as Gazelle. The Kaito's Past arc revealed that Gazelle was female as well as the original Thorn Queen, who had a "special" relationship with Kaito. After Kaito and Gazelle's battle with the Takeuchi twins resulted in Gazelle's death, Rinta Minami was able to recover her body and revive her and Kaito's child, who happens to be Akito/Agito/Lind as revealed in Chapter 300. Further details to how the Akito/Agito personas came to be have yet to be revealed.(Battle level of 122 in battle with Sleipnir)

Detektif Conan (名探偵コナン, Meitantei Konan?) adalah sebuah serial manga detektif yang ditulis dan digambar oleh Gōshō Aoyama. Sejak tahun 1994 cerita ini dipublikasikan pada majalah Mingguan Shōnen Sunday yang terbit di Jepang. Serial ini menceritakan tentang Shinichi Kudo, seorang detektif sekolah menengah atas, yang tubuhnya mengecil akibat sebuah racun.
Detektif Conan telah diterbitkan secara terus menerus di majalah antologi manga Mingguan Shōnen Sunday sejak tahun 1994 dan telah dikumpulkan dalam 70 volume tankōbon sampai dengan November 2010. Dalam versi bahasa Indonesia, Detektif Conan diterbitkan oleh Elex Media Komputindo yang telah menerbitkan hingga volume 60 sampai dengan Maret 2011.[1][2]
Cerita ini kemudian diadaptasi dalam serial animasi TV yang diproduksi oleh TMS Entertainment dan Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation Jepang, dan masih ditayangkan hingga saat ini. Selain serial TV, cerita tentang tokoh detektif ini juga diterbitkan dalam bentuk animasi video asli (OVA), drama TV, spesial TV, film tuturan, permainan video, dan berbagai bentuk barang yang berkaitan dengan tokoh Detektif Conan.
Viz Media melisensikan serial manga ini untuk publikasi berbahasa Inggris di Amerika Utara, sedangkan Funimation Entertainment melisensikan serial anime ini untuk daerah penyiaran di Amerika Utara.[3] Kedua adaptasi bahasa Inggris tersebut menggunakan judul Case Closed dan nama karakter di dalamnya diganti untuk menghindari masalah hak cipta terhadap nama Detektif Conan.[3]

Shinichi Kudo, seorang detektif SMA berusia 17 tahun yang biasanya membantu polisi memecahkan kasus, diserang oleh 2 anggota sindikat misterius ketika mengawasi sebuah pemerasan. Ia kemudian diberi minum racun misterius yang baru selesai dikembangkan untuk membunuhnya. Namun, karena sebuah efek samping yang jarang terjadi yang tidak diketahui anggota sindikat tersebut, racun tersebut mengakibatkan tubuhnya mengecil seperti anak kecil berusia tujuh tahun setelah mereka meninggalkannya.[4]
Untuk menyembunyikan identitasnya dan untuk menginvestigasi keadaan sindikat tersebut, yang selanjutnya dikenal dengan nama Organisasi Berbaju Hitam atau Organisasi Hitam, dia menyamarkan namanya menjadi Conan Edogawa.[5] Untuk mencari jejak sindikat tersebut, dia tinggal bersama dengan teman sejak kecilnya, Ran Mouri, yang ayahnya, Kogoro Mouri, merupakan seorang detektif swasta.[5] Dia bersekolah di SD Teitan dan membentuk Grup Detektif Cilik dengan 3 teman sekelasnya, yaitu: Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, dan Genta Kojima.[6] Meskipun tubuhnya mengecil, ia tetap memecahkan kasus. Biasanya, ia menyelesaikan kasus-kasus tersebut dengan meniru suara Kogoro Mouri dengan alat yang diciptakan oleh tetangganya, Profesor Agasa. Kogoro Mouri, seorang detektif yang agak bodoh, awalnya bingung pada kemampuan memecahkan kasusnya meningkat secara mendadak. Tetapi, kemudian ia tidak heran karena ia senang karena ketenarannya yang meningkat. Ran Mouri pernah beberapa kali mencurigai bahwa Conan adalah Shinichi, namun karena kecerdikan Conan, maka Ran pun percaya bahwa Conan bukanlah Shinichi.
Selanjutnya dalam seri ini, tokoh utama lainnya, Ai Haibara, muncul. Ai adalah seorang mantan anggota Organisasi Hitam, yang memiliki nama sandi "Sherry". Nama aslinya adalah Shiho Miyano, seorang ilmuan yang mengembangkan racun APTX 4869 yang membuat tubuh Shinichi mengecil.[7] Setelah kakaknya secara kejam dibunuh oleh anggota Organisasi Hitam, ia mencoba keluar dari organisasi itu, namun ia ditangkap.[7] Dia mencoba bunuh diri dengan menelan pil APTX 4869, namun ternyata tubuhnya mengecil, dan dia berhasil kabur dari organisasi tersebut.[7] Dia kemudian bersekolah di SD Teitan dengan nama samaran "Ai Haibara".[7] Dia mengetahui identitas asli Conan dan membantunya dalam perjuangan Conan untuk menjatuhkan Organisasi Hitam.[7]
Kemudian, Conan terlibat dengan Biro Investigasi Federal (FBI), dan mereka berhasil menangkap Kir, seorang anggota Organisasi Hitam. Kir kemudian diketahui merupakan seorang agen CIA yang menyamar, dan berjanji akan memberi informasi tentang Organisasi Hitam kepada FBI.[8] Mereka kemudian mengembalikan Kir ke organisasi tersebut. Kemudian, dia memberitahukan kepada FBI bahwa di Organisasi Hitam ada seorang anggota baru dengan nama sandi Bourbon.[9]

Shinichi Kudo, seorang detektif SMA berusia 17 tahun yang biasanya membantu polisi memecahkan kasus, diserang oleh 2 anggota sindikat misterius ketika mengawasi sebuah pemerasan. Ia kemudian diberi minum racun misterius yang baru selesai dikembangkan untuk membunuhnya. Namun, karena sebuah efek samping yang jarang terjadi yang tidak diketahui anggota sindikat tersebut, racun tersebut mengakibatkan tubuhnya mengecil seperti anak kecil berusia tujuh tahun setelah mereka meninggalkannya.[4]

Tokoh utama dari serial ini adalah seorang bocah kecil bernama Kurogane Yaiba yang telah dilatih oleh ayahnya yang merupakan ahli pedang yang terkenal. Suatu saat, ayahnya bilang bahwa dia tidak ada pelajaran yang perlu diajarkan kepada anaknya lagi, sehingga dia menyuruh anaknya untuk pergi ke Jepang untuk berlatih pedang

Komik Kenji ini, dibuat Ryuchi Matshuda. bercerita tentang bocah yang bernama Kenji Goh diajari Kungfu Delapan Mata Angin oleh kakeknya.
Kisah dimulai dari masa Kenji masih duduk di bangku sekolah dasar dan sering mengalami masalah disekolah karena sikapnya yang berani, jahil dan konyol. Sikap ini menurun langsung dari kakeknya, Kyotaro Goh, yang sangat ia sayangi dan kagumi. Karena kejahilannya, tak jarang ibu Kenji, anak langsung dari kakek Goh, tidak suka kalau ayahnya itu bertandang, karena niscaya segala aturan di rumah jadi berantakan. Kemudian kakeknya 7 tahun pergi ke China. Dia menyusul ke sana sambil bertemu orang-orang hebat dan petualangan yang seru.

Seorang gadis berpakaian sailor (sera fuku) mengejar seseorang lelaki bertuxedo dan memakai topeng. Keduanya bertarung untuk mencari Kristal Perak (Silver Crystal) yang ternyata tidak ada di tangan sang pemuda.
Usagi yang terinspirasi akan kepahlawanan Sailor-V, ia berniat menjadi pahlawan seperti jagoannya. Hal itu terkabul saat bertemu dengan Luna yang membuatnya berubah menjadi Sailor Moon. Perjuangan melawan pasukan kejahatan tidak sendiri, perlahan Usagi menemukan teman baru yang juga termasuk pengawal kerajaan bulan. Pada awalnya Sailor Moon memiliki empat teman termasuk Sailor-V yang ternyata adalah Sailor Venus, kepala pengawal kerajaan. Perlahan-lahan sejalan dengan cerita dia bertemu dengan sailor lainnya hingga bertemu dengan anaknya di masa depan, Chibiusa (pada versi Sailormoon Super).

Animasi ini berkisah tentang Sakura Kinomoto, yang dalam versi animasinya, dikisahkan secara tidak sengaja membuka sebuah buku berisi Clow Card. Saat buku itu terbuka, semua kartu-kartu ciptaan Clow Reed sebanyak 52 lembar (17 lembar dalam manga) berhamburan ke seluruh penjuru kota Tomoeda. Adalah tugas dari Sakura untuk mengumpulkan kembali kartu-kartu itu dibantu makhluk bernama Cerberus, yang muncul bersamaan saat buku itu terbuka.
Dalam perjalanannya, Sakura ditemani oleh:
Tomoyo Daidouji, yang selalu mengambil gambar Sakura saat menyegel kartu Clow.

Kungfu Komang
Kungfu Komang adalah manhwa yang mengisahkan tentang kehidupan perguruan kecil yang dipimpin oleh Mulbuldosa, seorang pertapa sakti yang diturunkan dari langit. Murid pertamanya adalah Komang, yang menjadi tokoh utama manhwa ini. Sedangkan murid keduanya adalah Ninjaring, yang kemudian pada akhirnya perguruan ini memiliki murid-murid lainnya. Perguruan ini sangatlah kecil dan tidak mempunyai nama yang jelas, karena kecilnya itu bahkan dapat dikatakan sebagai keluarga. Mereka seringkali mengikuti turnamen bela diri maupun ujian masuk sebagai pegawai kerajaan. Namun usaha mereka agar menjadi sukses selalu diselipi oleh berbagai macam hal yang konyol, yang pada akhirnya seringkali membawa mereka ke kegagalan.

Dua siswa SMP, Shiro dan Masumi dibawa naga pada saat hendak berdarmawisata ke Cina. Saat pesawat yang mereka tumpangi dilewati oleh dewa naga, keduanya terbawa ke Zaman Tiga Kerajaan. Di sana mereka dianggap sebagai "anak naga". Shiro membawa titel "guru naga" dan Masumi "putri naga". Cerita kemudian menjelaskan bahwa dewa naga memilih kedua anak ini untuk melekukan sesuatu pada zaman itu.

Ashura (Ashura No Toki)
Manga ini bercerita tentang Tsukumitsu Mutsu (di dalam terbitan Elex Media Komputindo, diganti dengan Paddy) seorang penerus aliran karate Enmei (Mutsu Enmei Ryu) yang merupakan aliran untuk bertempur dan membunuh. Tsukumitsu bertujuan untuk mencari orang yang terkuat dengan menantang seluruh jawara dan pakar beladiri se-Jepang dengan menggelar pertandingan beladiri bebas. Perjalanan Tsukumitsu dimulai di perguruan Karate Shinbukan. Sebagai "perkenalan" dia berhasil merobohkan 100 orang perguruan tersebut yang akhirnya memaksa keluar 4 Naga Shinbukan. Dalam aksinya di Jepang, Tsukumitsu bertarung dengan salah satu karateka yang juga menguasai teknik Enmei. Di sini dia mengeluarkan teknik 4 Gerbang Shuzaku. Perjalanan Tsukumitsu pun berlanjut ke Amerika Serikat. Di negeri Paman Sam tersebut, Tsukumitsu kembali menantang orang terkuat di negara itu dalam pertandingan tinju. Untuk bisa meraih gelar tertinggi dalam dunia tinju Tsukumitsu mengikuti seri turnamen tinju Amerika. Kemudian Tsukumitsu melanjutkan perjalanan ke Brasil dan mengikuti pertandingan Vale Tudo untuk melawan orang-orang terkuat di dunia, dan Tsukumitsu kembali menjadi juara setelah di pertandingan final bertarung melawan Leon Gracielo dari aliran Jiu-Jitsu Brazil. Leon Gracielo sendiri tewas setelah pertandingan tersebut. Dalam pertandingan final tersebut Tsukumitsu juga mengeluarkan teknik tertinggi yang dimilikinya, yaitu teknik 4 Gerbang Gen Bu.
Samurai 7
Sekelompok bandit perusak menghampiri sebuah desa gunung. Pemimpin bandit menyadari bahwa mereka telah merampok desa ini sebelumnya, dan memutuskan untuk membiarkan desa ini dan menunggu hingga barley dipanen dalam beberapa bulan lagi. Ketika para bandit pergi, para penduduk desa mulai terpisah, ada yang beranggapan bahwa mereka harus menyerahkan hasil panen mereka, ada juga yang ingin bertempur melawan bandit. Dalam kerusuhan ini, mereka pergi menuju tetua desa, yang menyatakan bahwa mereka harus bertempur, dengan cara menyewa samurai untuk membantu mereka mempertahankan desa mereka. Beberapa penduduk mempermasalahkan usulan ini, mengetahui bahwa samurai mahal untuk disewa dan dikenal bernafsu pada wanita muda. Tapi mereka tak punya pilihan lain. Menyadari bahwa para penduduk tak memiliki apa pun untuk dipersembahkan selain makanan, maka tetua menyuruh penduduk untuk "cari samurai kelaparan".
Para penduduk laki-laki pergi menuju kota, namun menemui kegagalan pada awalnya, tidak ditanggapi oleh setiap samurai mereka tanyai — kadang-kadang sangat kasar — karena mereka tidak dapat menawarkan apa pun selain membayar samurai tersebut dengan tiga kali makan sehari. Saat seolah-olah semua harapan hilang, mereka menjadi saksi dari samurai yang agak tua (Kambei) menyelamatkan bocah laki-laki yang disandera oleh pencuri yang licik secara dramatis. Sementara Kambei berjalan menyusuri kota, seorang pemuda, Katsushirō, yang meminta Kambei agar ia menjadi acolyte (pembantu pendeta pada upacara misa) bagi Kambei. Kambei memaksa bahwa Katsushirō untuk berjalan setara dengannya sebagai teman. Maka para petani meminta Kambei untuk membantu mempertahankan desa mereka. Kambei menerima dan mereka sangat gembira. Kambei, dengan bantuan Katsushirō, merekrut satu-per-satu empat lagi samurai (ronin) tak bertuan dari kota, masing-masing dengan keahlian dan kepribadian khusus. Walaupun pada awalnya Kambei telah memutuskan bahwa diperlukan tujuh samurai, ia berencana akan berangkat menuju desa dengan hanya empat orang samurai terpilih, karena keterbatasan waktu. Penduduk desa meminta dirinya untuk mengikutsertakan Katsushirō. Dengan sedikit desakan dari yang lain, dia setuju. Seorang samurai yang kikuk dan aneh bernama Kikuchiyo, yang telah ditolak Kambei untuk misi ini, mengikuti mereka ke desa di kejauhan, mengabaikan protes dan upaya para samurai untuk mengusir dia pergi.
Ketika samurai tiba di desa, penduduk desa meringkuk ketakutan di dalam rumah mereka masing-masing, melindungi diri dan anak perempuan mereka dari samurai yang mereka anggap berbahaya. Para samurai merasa terhina dengan sambutan dingin ini, mengingat bahwa mereka telah rela untuk mempertahankan desa dengan hampir tidak ada balasan sama sekali. Lalu para samurai ini meminta penjelasan dari tetua desa. Tiba-tiba, alarm dibunyikan; para penduduk desa, yang takut akan telah kembalinya para bandit, segera keluar dari tempat persembunyian mereka dan memohon untuk dilindungi oleh para samurai yang baru tiba. Ternyata Kikuchiyo, yang sampai saat ini hanya membuntuti para samurai, lah yang telah membunyikan alarm palsu. Dia memarahi para penduduk desa yang panik, karena mendekati samurai untuk memohon bantuan, setelah tak mau menyambut kedatangan mereka ke desa. Di sini lah Kikuchiyo menunjukkan bahwa ada suatu kecerdikan di balik sikapnya yang kasar. Keenam samurai secara simbolis menerima dia sebagai anggota mereka, menyempurnakan kelompok pengelana sebagai "Tujuh Orang Samurai."
Selama mereka mempersiapkan diri untuk mengepung musuh, para penduduk desa dan samurai perlahan mulai saling percaya satu sama lain. Para samurai menemukan bahwa beberapa penduduk desa telah membunuh dan merampok samurai lain yang telah kabur di masa lalu. Mereka menjadi terkejut dan marah. Kyūzō, yang paling profesional dan tenang dari ketujuh samurai, bahkan menyatakan bahwa ia ingin membunuh semua orang di desa. Si Kikuchiyo yang aneh pun menginginkan samurai yang lain untuk mengabaikan kerja keras para petani dalam bertahan hidup di tengah intimidasi dan pelecehan dari kelas ksatria. Pada saat inilah, terungkap kenyataan bahwa Kikuchiyo adalah anak seorang petani. "Tetapi siapa yang membuat mereka menjadi seperti ini?", ia bertanya. "Kalian lah yang melakukannya!" Samurai yang tadinya merasa marah berubah menjadi malu, dan ketika tetua desa, yang datang setelah mendengar keributan hebat ini, menanyakan apakah ada masalah, Kambei dengan merendahkan diri merespon bahwa tidak ada masalah apa pun. Para samurai pun melanjutkan persiapan tanpa rasa permusuhan, dan segera setelah itu, menunjukkan belas kasihan terhadap para petani saat para petani membagikan beras kepada seorang wanita tua yang keluarganya yang telah dibunuh oleh para bandit, yang juga berteriak bahwa dia hanya ingin mati saja.
Persiapan untuk pertahanan desa berlangsung cepat, termasuk pembangunan kubu pertahanan dan pelatihan para petani untuk pertempuran. Katsushirō, samurai termuda, mulai tertarik pada Shino, seorang putri salah satu penduduk desa. Shino telah dipaksa oleh ayahnya, Manzō, untuk menyamar sebagai anak laki-laki. Manzō berharap penyamaran ini akan melindungi putrinya dari para ksatria samurai yang ia duga gasang.
Saat waktu penyerangan semakin mendekat, dua kelompokbandit dibunuh. Salah satu bandit yang ditangkap terpaksa memberitahukan lokasi kemah bandit. Tiga samurai, bersama pemandu dari desa, memutuskan untuk melakukan penyerangan pencegahan untuk berjaga-jaga. Hasilnya banyak bandit yang tewas, namun salah satu samurai, Heihachi, terkena tembakan. Ketika pasukan bandit tiba segera setelah penyerangan ini, mereka dikacaukan oleh kubu pertahanan yang telah disiapkan oleh parasamurai. Beberapa bandit bahkan terbunuh saat mereka mencoba menaikibarikade maupun melintasi parit-parit (moat). Bagaimana pun juga, kelompok bandit ini memiliki keunggulan dalam jumlah petarungnya yang terlatih, dan memiliki tiga musket, yang mampu mempertahankan diri mereka sendiri. Kyūzō, atas inisiatifnya sendiri, memutuskan untuk melakukan penyerangan untuk mengambil salah satu muskets dan kembali dalam beberapa jam mendatang. Kikuchiyo, yang cemburu akan pujian dan penghormatan yang Kyūzō dapatkan, terutama dari Katsushirō, kemudian meninggalkan posnya untuk mengambil musket lainnya, meninggalkan rombongan para petani yang berada di bawah wewenangnya. Walau Kikuchiyo berhasil, para bandit menyerang pos tersebut, membuat para petani kewalahan bahkan terbunuh. Kambei terpaksa harus menyediakan bala bantuan dari pos utama untuk mengatasi para bandit, yang mengakibatkan kekurangan tenaga saat pemimpin bandit menyerang pos utama ini. Meskipun serangan bandit ini dapat diatasi, Gorobei tewas tertembak.
Selain pertahanan, strategi awal para samurai adalah untuk membiarkan para bandit memasuki celah pada kubu pertahanan satu per satu, melewati semacam "dinding" tertutup penuh akan tombak, dan kemudian membunuh musuh yang masuk sendirian tersebut setelah "dinding" ditutup kembali. Hal ini berhasil dilakukan berkali-kali, walaupun ada beberapa bandit yang berhasil memasuki desa beberapa kali. Pada malam kedua, Kambei memastikan bahwa penduduk desa akan segera menjadi terlalu lelah untuk bertempur dan menginstruksikan mereka mempersiapkanpertempuran terakhir yang menentukan. Malam itu, hubungan asmara Katsushirō terungkap. Karena kegemparan awal ini lah, petualangan asmara Katsushirō memberikan semacam kelegaan pada para petempur.
Ketika pagi mulai merekah dan para bandit melancarkan serangan mereka, Kambei memerintahkan pasukannya agar membiarkan ketigabelas bandit yang tersisa untuk masuk sekaligus. Dalam pertempuran kali ini, sebagian besar bandit mudah untuk dibunuh, tetapi pemimpin bandit berlindung di sebuah pondok yang tak terlihat. Tergambarkan sebagai perbuatan keji, sang pemimpin bandit menembak Kyūzō dari belakang, dari pondok yang terlindungi tersebut, dan berhasil membunuh Kyūzō. Katsushirō yang putus asa berusaha untuk melawan atas apa yang telah menimpa pahlawannya. Tetapi Kikuchiyo yang sangat marah dengan berani (dan tak sadar) maju menyerang mendahului Katsushirō, yang hanya mengakibatkan ia tertembak di bagian perut. Walaupun terluka parah, Kikuchiyo berhasil membunuh pemimpin bandit, yang akhirnya membuktikan bahwa dia layak sebagai seorang samurai, sebelum akhirnya dia meninggal. Dalam kebingungan dan kelelahan, Kambei dan Shichirōji dengan sedih menyatakan "Kita berhasil selamat sekali lagi," saat Katsushiro meratapi para sahabatnya yang gugur. Pertempuran ini akhirnya murni dimenangkan pihak penduduk desa.
Tiga samurai yang berhasil selamat, Kambei, Katsushirō, dan Shichirōji, berjalan untuk mengamati para penduduk desa yang dengan gembira menanam padi kembali. Para samurai mencerminkan hubungan antara kelas petani dengan ksatria: walaupun mereka berhasil memenangkan pertempuran demi para petani, mereka telah kehilangan teman-teman mereka dan berusaha untuk tidak menunjukkan rasa kehilangan itu. "Sekali lagi kita dikalahkan," renung Kambei. "Para petani lah yang menang. Bukan kita." Pandangan melankolik ini sedikit memberikan pencerahan akan pernyataan Kambei pada bagian awal film ini bahwa dia "tidak pernah memenangkan sebuah pertempuran." Ini kontras dengan nyanyian dan sukacita penduduk desa, yang hidup bertahan dari kerja paksa yang telah menang atas perang dan membiarkan semua ksatria sebagai pihak yang dikalahkan.

Para samurai pun melanjutkan persiapan tanpa rasa permusuhan, dan segera setelah itu, menunjukkan belas kasihan terhadap para petani saat para petani membagikan beras kepada seorang wanita tua yang keluarganya yang telah dibunuh oleh para bandit, yang juga berteriak bahwa dia hanya ingin mati saja.
Persiapan untuk pertahanan desa berlangsung cepat, termasuk pembangunan kubu pertahanan dan pelatihan para petani untuk pertempuran. Katsushirō, samurai termuda, mulai tertarik pada Shino, seorang putri salah satu penduduk desa. Shino telah dipaksa oleh ayahnya, Manzō, untuk menyamar sebagai anak laki-laki. Manzō berharap penyamaran ini akan melindungi putrinya dari para ksatria samurai yang ia duga gasang.
Saat waktu penyerangan semakin mendekat, dua kelompokbandit dibunuh. Salah satu bandit yang ditangkap terpaksa memberitahukan lokasi kemah bandit. Tiga samurai, bersama pemandu dari desa, memutuskan untuk melakukan penyerangan pencegahan untuk berjaga-jaga. Hasilnya banyak bandit yang tewas, namun salah satu samurai, Heihachi, terkena tembakan. Ketika pasukan bandit tiba segera setelah penyerangan ini, mereka dikacaukan oleh kubu pertahanan yang telah disiapkan oleh parasamurai. Beberapa bandit bahkan terbunuh saat mereka mencoba menaikibarikade maupun melintasi parit-parit (moat). Bagaimana pun juga, kelompok bandit ini memiliki keunggulan dalam jumlah petarungnya yang terlatih, dan memiliki tiga musket, yang mampu mempertahankan diri mereka sendiri. Kyūzō, atas inisiatifnya sendiri, memutuskan untuk melakukan penyerangan untuk mengambil salah satu muskets dan kembali dalam beberapa jam mendatang. Kikuchiyo, yang cemburu akan pujian dan penghormatan yang Kyūzō dapatkan, terutama dari Katsushirō, kemudian meninggalkan posnya untuk mengambil musket lainnya, meninggalkan rombongan para petani yang berada di bawah wewenangnya. Selain pertahanan, strategi awal para samurai adalah untuk membiarkan para bandit memasuki celah pada kubu pertahanan satu per satu, melewati semacam "dinding" tertutup penuh akan tombak, dan kemudian membunuh musuh yang masuk sendirian tersebut setelah "dinding" ditutup kembali. Hal ini berhasil dilakukan berkali-kali, walaupun ada beberapa bandit yang berhasil memasuki desa beberapa kali. Pada malam kedua, Kambei memastikan bahwa penduduk desa akan segera menjadi terlalu lelah untuk bertempur dan menginstruksikan mereka mempersiapkanpertempuran terakhir yang menentukan. Malam itu, hubungan asmara Katsushirō terungkap. Karena kegemparan awal ini lah, petualangan asmara Katsushirō memberikan semacam kelegaan pada para petempur.
Ketika pagi mulai merekah dan para bandit melancarkan serangan mereka, Kambei memerintahkan pasukannya agar membiarkan ketigabelas bandit yang tersisa untuk masuk sekaligus. Dalam pertempuran kali ini, sebagian besar bandit mudah untuk dibunuh, tetapi pemimpin bandit berlindung di sebuah pondok yang tak terlihat. Tergambarkan sebagai perbuatan keji, sang pemimpin bandit menembak Kyūzō dari belakang, dari pondok yang terlindungi tersebut, dan berhasil membunuh Kyūzō. Katsushirō yang putus asa berusaha untuk melawan atas apa yang telah menimpa pahlawannya. Tetapi Kikuchiyo yang sangat marah dengan berani (dan tak sadar) maju menyerang mendahului Katsushirō, yang hanya mengakibatkan ia tertembak di bagian perut. Walaupun terluka parah, Kikuchiyo berhasil membunuh pemimpin bandit, yang akhirnya membuktikan bahwa dia layak sebagai seorang samurai, sebelum akhirnya dia meninggal. Dalam kebingungan dan kelelahan, Kambei dan Shichirōji dengan sedih menyatakan "Kita berhasil selamat sekali lagi," saat Katsushiro meratapi para sahabatnya yang gugur. Pertempuran ini akhirnya murni dimenangkan pihak penduduk desa.
Tiga samurai yang berhasil selamat, Kambei, Katsushirō, dan Shichirōji, berjalan untuk mengamati para penduduk desa yang dengan gembira menanam padi kembali. Para samurai mencerminkan hubungan antara kelas petani dengan ksatria: walaupun mereka berhasil memenangkan pertempuran demi para petani, mereka telah kehilangan teman-teman mereka dan berusaha untuk tidak menunjukkan rasa kehilangan itu. "Sekali lagi kita dikalahkan," renung Kambei. "Para petani lah yang menang. Bukan kita." Pandangan melankolik ini sedikit memberikan pencerahan akan pernyataan Kambei pada bagian awal film ini bahwa dia "tidak pernah memenangkan sebuah pertempuran." Samurai Deeper Kyo
Samurai Deeper Kyo adalah manga karya Akimine Kamijyo. Manga ini pertama kali diterbitkan pada Oktober 1999 di Shūkan Shōnen Magazine. Manga ini kemudian diadaptasikan menjadi serial anime yang dibuat oleh Studio Deen. Manga dan anime ini mengkombinasikan genre laga dengan supernatural, dan memakai tokoh-tokoh sejarah untuk membuat sejarah alternatif pada era Tokugawa Jepang.
Walaupun berbeda pada cerita dan penokohannya, anime dan manga ini menceritakan tokoh utama Kyo si Mata Iblis (鬼目の狂, Oni Me no Kyō?) yang ingin mengambil kembali tubuhnya setelah rohnya terperangkap di tubuh lawannya, Kyoshiro Mibu. Kyo ditemani oleh tokoh lain, antara lain, pemburu penjahat Shiina Yuya, Benitora, dan musuh Tokugawa yang terkenal, Sanada Yukimura. Di dalam kisah ini banyak tokoh sejarah Jepang yang muncul.
Cerita ini dimulai dari pertemuan antara Shiina Yuya dan Mibu Kyoshiro. Kemudian mereka mengalami sebuah pertarungan di sebuah desa, dan muncul tokoh utama dalam cerita ini yaitu Kyo si Mata Iblis (鬼目の狂) yang kepalanya dihargai 1 juta ryo. Aksi-aksi pun dilakukan oleh Kyo setelah kejadian itu Yuya mengira Kyoshiro memiliki kepribadian ganda, tokoh-tokoh misterius juga muncul yaitu Okuni dan Benitora (Hidetada Tokugawa). Awalnya mereka berdua adalah musuh, tetapi mereka tertarik dengan 'Kyo si Mata Iblis' lalu ikut dengan Kyo, bahkan samurai terkenal dari klan Sanada juga ikut menjadi rekan Kyo.
"Kyo si Mata Iblis" sebenarnya adalah keturunan terakhir klan Mibu, yaitu klan yg disebut sebagai klan dewa dan mengatur Jepang dari "balik layar". Pedang kyo adalah salah satu dari 4 pusaka Muramasa. Pedang Kyo yang bernama Tenro mempunyai roh/jiwa raja merah yg pertama. Saat berlatih Kyo diserang salah satu goyousei yaitu pejabat tinggi klan Mibu yg menguasai elemen air yang bernama Shinrei. Pada saat mereka bertarung, Kyo kalah telak dengan Shinrei, tetapi ditolong oleh Muramasa yang juga mantan taishiro yang memiliki kekuasaan tertinggi setelah raja merah. Setelah kalah, Shinrei pergi tapi setelah dia melakukan taruhan dengan Kyo, Shinrei memasukan naga air ke dalam tubuh Yuya yang akan membunuh Yuya setelah 60 hari. Demi menyelamatkan Yuya, Kyo pun berlatih berdua dengan Muramasa di dalam gua. Pada saat Kyo sedang berlatih, Yuya dan Bontemaru (Masamune Date) diserang anggota goyousei yang bernama Keikoku yang berelemen api.

Rorouni Kenshin menceritakan tentang pengembaraan seorang samurai legendaris, nama lainnya adalah Kenshin Himura. Untuk beberapa tahun ia hidup menjadi Battousai “Si Pembantai”. Dia adalah yang terbaik dari semua pembunuh bayaran yang terbaik. Ia memiliki teknik yang sempurna. Dia sukses berkat Shishio Hiko Seijuro. Manga ini bercerita tentang lima pendekar yang diberi julukan "Saint" dan memiliki kekuatan berdasar pada pelindung tubuh (armor) yang disebut "Cloth", yang berasal dari konstelasi masing-masing pemiliknya. Flame of Recca (烈火の炎, Rekka no Honō?) is a manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Anzai, which was adapted into an anime series spanning forty-two episodes by Studio Pierrot. The series has also been adapted into two video games; Flame of Recca for the Game Boy Advance and Flame of Recca Final Burning for the PlayStation 2.
The manga was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1995 to 2002. The 329 chapters that composed the series were compiled into 33 tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan. Both the anime and manga were licensed for North American distribution in English by Viz Media.

Flame of Recca follows the story of a teenage boy named Recca Hanabishi, who is interested in ninja and claims to be one himself. He often gets into fights because he made it publicly known that the person who manages to defeat him will earn his services as a loyal ninja. Despite this, he eventually pledges his loyalty and services as a ninja to Yanagi Sakoshita, a girl with the innate ability to heal any wound/injury, because of her kindness and compassion. Recca soon discovers that he possesses the innate ability to control/manipulate flames, and eventually learns that he is actually the son of the sixth generation leader of the Hokage, a ninja clan that was wiped out by Oda Nobunaga in 1576, roughly 400 years before the series' present day.[1]
The Hokage ninjas wielded mystical objects called madōgu (魔導具?), which are referred to as "psychic devices" or "elemental weapons" in the English versions of the series. Madōgu grant their users special abilities, such as allowing their users to manipulate certain elements (as in the case of the Fūjin, which allows its wielder to manipulate the element of wind) and enhancing their user's strength/skills (as in the case of the Dosei no Wa, which increases its user's physical strength and the Idaten, which increases its user's running speed). Oda Nobunaga had invaded the Hokage in 1576 for the purpose of acquiring these weapons, and the series' main antagonist, Kōran Mori, is searching for a madōgu that will grant him eternal life. Recca and his friends become entangled in Mori's quest for eternal life as he initially attempts to kidnap Yanagi, believing that her healing powers will help him achieve immortality. This leads them to join the Ura Butō Satsujin, a tournament wherein the warriors that wield madōgu gather to battle each other. After successfully winning the tournament, Recca and his teammates discover that Mori was on his way to acquire the Tendō Jigoku (天堂地獄, Heaven and Hell?), a madōgu said to grant its user eternal life, and once again attempt to stop him.
Though initially following the same basic storyline, the Flame of Recca anime series ends right after the Ura Butō Satsujin ends, while the manga goes on to include the subplot involving the Tendō Jigoku. Recca, the primary protagonist of the series, is a teenager obsessed with ninja and anything related to ninja. Recca was born the second son of Ōka, the leader of the Hokage ninja clan that existed over 400 years ago. Recca's older half-brother, Kurei, was supposed to be the heir to the leadership because he was the eldest and was born with the ability to control fire, but Recca also exhibited the same abilities as an infant, and is declared the true heir of the Hokage leadership. In an attempt to save him during the slaughter of the Hokage ninja clan, his mother (Kagerō) used a forbidden technique that opened a portal that would transport him into the future, where the Flame of Recca storyline begins.
Yanagi Sakoshita (佐古下 柳, Sakoshita Yanagi?) Voiced by: Yuki Masuda (Japanese), Carol-Anne Day (English)
Yanagi is a teenage girl gifted with the innate ability to heal any kind of physical injury, and Recca immediately offers to serve her as his loyal ninja after seeing her compassion when she healed a severely injured puppy in a local park (in the anime series, she heals Recca after a pile of metal pipes collapsed on top of him). She is the prime objective of the series' main antagonist, Kōran Mori, as he believes that her healing powers will help him attain eternal life.
Fūko Kirisawa (霧沢 風子, Kirisawa Fūko?) Voiced by: Akiko Hiramatsu (Japanese), Kris Rundle (English)
Fūko, a tomboyish teenage girl, is Recca's childhood friend who has always aspired to defeat him in battle so that he would serve her as her ninja. She initially gets irritated by the fact that Recca chose to become Yanagi's ninja just because he wanted to. For this reason, she decides to accept the aid of Kagerō, who offers to lend her Fūjin (a powerful madōgu that controls wind) in order to enable her to defeat Recca. In actuality, Kagerō implanted a stone in the Fūjin that allowed her to brainwash Fūko, but Recca manages to defeat Fūko and destroy the sphere. Fūko ends up being friends with both Yanagi and Recca after the incident, and she also keeps the Fūjin and wields it throughout the rest of the series.
Domon Ishijima (石島 土門, Ishijima Domon?) Voiced by: Nobuo Tobita (Japanese), Adam Hunter (English)
Domon is Recca's schoolmate who, like Fūko, has always wanted to defeat Recca. However, he is never able to do so, and ends up befriending and joining forces with Recca. Domon wields the Dosei no Wa ("The Ring of Saturn"), a madōgu which enhances his physical strength. Later in the series, he also wields the Kuchibashi-Ō ("Beak King"), a super-sharp snapping claw on an extendable chain, and the Tetsugan ("Iron Ball"), which transmutes his entire body into a living iron golem for brief periods.
Tokiya Mikagami (水鏡 凍季也, Mikagami Tokiya?) Voiced by: Hikaru Midorikawa (Japanese), Paul Hunter (English)
Tokiya is Recca's upperclassman and wields the madōgu Ensui ("Dark Water"), a sword that utilizes water to create its blade and is capable of creating and controlling all three states of water (liquid, solid and gas). Tokiya wanted to take Yanagi from Recca because she looks exactly like his sister, Mifuyu Mikagami, who was murdered when he was young. He uses the Hyōmon Ken style which was developed specifically for the Ensui. Tokiya joins forces with Recca in attempting to rescue Yanagi from Kōran Mori's mansion, and he continues to be part of their team throughout the rest of the series.
Kaoru Koganei (小金井 薰, Koganei Kaoru?) Voiced by: Motoko Kumai (Japanese), Brett Bauer (English)
Kaoru was once a member of the Uruha, but eventually becomes a member of Recca's team "Hokage" in the Ura Butō Satsujin. He wields the Kōgan Anki, a puzzle-like weapon that has five different forms.

Kage Hōshi, whose real name is Kagerō, is the first antagonist of the series, and is later revealed to be Recca's mother. She possesses the 'Eikai Kyoku' ("Shadow Ball"), which allows her to teleport through shadows, show people the past, and perform acts of scrying. She performed the Jikuryūri (a technique which allows the user to travel or send another person to a different time) to save the infant Recca from being killed along with the rest of the Hokage clan, but is cursed with immortality as a result of using the technique.
Kurei (紅麗, Kurei?) Voiced by: Ryōtarō Okiayu (Japanese), Jonathan Love (English)
Kurei is Recca's half brother who is four years older than he is. He is also a flame master with the power of the phoenix, being able to capture the soul of a dead person in his flame. The most notable manifestation of his flame power is Kurenai (紅), his former lover whose soul he absorbed using his flame when she was killed by Kōran Mori.

Flame of Recca (烈火の炎, Rekka no Honō?) is a manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Anzai, which was adapted into an anime series spanning forty-two episodes by Studio Pierrot. The series has also been adapted into two video games; Flame of Recca for the Game Boy Advance and Flame of Recca Final Burning for the PlayStation 2.
The manga was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1995 to 2002. The 329 chapters that composed the series were compiled into 33 tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan. Both the anime and manga were licensed for North American distribution in English by Viz Media.

Flame of Recca follows the story of a teenage boy named Recca Hanabishi, who is interested in ninja and claims to be one himself. He often gets into fights because he made it publicly known that the person who manages to defeat him will earn his services as a loyal ninja. Despite this, he eventually pledges his loyalty and services as a ninja to Yanagi Sakoshita, a girl with the innate ability to heal any wound/injury, because of her kindness and compassion. Recca soon discovers that he possesses the innate ability to control/manipulate flames, and eventually learns that he is actually the son of the sixth generation leader of the Hokage, a ninja clan that was wiped out by Oda Nobunaga in 1576, roughly 400 years before the series' present day.[1]
The Hokage ninjas wielded mystical objects called madōgu (魔導具?), which are referred to as "psychic devices" or "elemental weapons" in the English versions of the series. Madōgu grant their users special abilities, such as allowing their users to manipulate certain elements (as in the case of the Fūjin, which allows its wielder to manipulate the element of wind) and enhancing their user's strength/skills (as in the case of the Dosei no Wa, which increases its user's physical strength and the Idaten, which increases its user's running speed). Oda Nobunaga had invaded the Hokage in 1576 for the purpose of acquiring these weapons, and the series' main antagonist, Kōran Mori, is searching for a madōgu that will grant him eternal life. Recca and his friends become entangled in Mori's quest for eternal life as he initially attempts to kidnap Yanagi, believing that her healing powers will help him achieve immortality. This leads them to join the Ura Butō Satsujin, a tournament wherein the warriors that wield madōgu gather to battle each other. After successfully winning the tournament, Recca and his teammates discover that Mori was on his way to acquire the Tendō Jigoku (天堂地獄, Heaven and Hell?), a madōgu said to grant its user eternal life, and once again attempt to stop him.
Though initially following the same basic storyline, the Flame of Recca anime series ends right after the Ura Butō Satsujin ends, while the manga goes on to include the subplot involving the Tendō Jigoku.
